Description
The Birds of a Feather Series came about during an opportunity to spend an extended amount of time in the Maldives over 2019, studying and observing the Reef Manta “Mobula alfredi”. Closely observed luna patterns coinciding with an influx of phytoplankton created not only one of the most unique but graceful feeding migrations on the planet.
To portray this event in all its awe and distinctive beauty, I wanted to present a body of work that not only depicted grace and beauty, but also the experience underwater. The series needed to raise awareness in such a way that it would encourage a sense of value and need for protection. A conceptual approach of immersing the audience and portraying a certain “point of view” angle would captivate viewers into a sense of placement and presence.
“The collectables” are a catalogue of high-quality, 11 x 14 inch Open Edition photographic prints personally curated by Todd. Each print is signed by Todd Thimios and has been crafted on archival paper using archival inks, to maximise quality and to meet museum grade longevity requirements.
